Post Sprint Football's stingy run defense was not enough to win today's opener vs St. Thomas Aquinas College. The Eagles defense only allowed 46 yards on the ground, but it wasn't enough to keep the Spartans from STAC from putting up 30 points in their programs first ever sprint football game.
Freshmen RB Davion Williams (Pasadena, TX) lead Post with 69 rushing yards on 18 attempts, including a 58 yard scamper.
Junior Marquis Watson (Wagram, NC) took the majority of snaps at QB after stater Matthew Swormstedt (Laconia, NH) left with an injury early in the game. Watson rushed 12 times for a total of 42 yards. As a team, Post passed for a total of 19 yards.
The Eagles found the end zone in the final minutes of the game when Sophomore Kevin Calhoun (Greenwood, FL) blocked a punt deep in Spartan's territory and recovered it for a touchdown.
The Spartans would ultimately win the game 30-7.
Next up for Post will be an away matchup at Franklin Pierce University next Saturday (9/22) in Rindge, NH.
