WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University men's lacrosse team fell to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) rival Georgian Court 11-10 in an overtime thriller at LaMoy Field on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles finish the regular season with a 2-11 overall record and 2-3 in conference play.
The Eagles gained possession with two minutes remaining in overtime, but turned the ball over. Post nearly got the ball back as neither team could grab the ground ball. Georgian Court took control and quickly called a timeout. Out of the break Michael Saladino scored the game-winner from the top of the offensive zone.
The game was back-and-forth all afternoon with Post holding the largest lead at 9-7. Teams traded goals to start the first quarter as sophomore
Corey Auten (Stratford, Conn.) struck first for the Eagles. Senior
Frank Nichols Jr. (Carlsbad, Calif.) tied the score 2-2 with 1:39 to go. The Lions scored with 0.6 left in the quarter to take a 3-2 lead.

Dominick Parente (Monroe Township, N.J.) gave Post its first lead of the game at 4-3 with 11:00 to go in the half. After the Lions tied the score, Olsen hit Nichols Jr. for a behind-the-back score to put the Eagles back in front. The teams exchanged scores the rest of the half and entered the intermission square at 6-6.
Post looked to grab control of the game in the third. Georgian Court took at 7-6 lead just under in minute into the quarter, but Post scored the next three to jump in front 9-7 with 1:52 remaining. The Lions pulled within one late in the period and tied the score 9-9 with 11:00 left in regulation.
The Eagles made the most of an extra-man opportunity late in the fourth as Nichols Jr. hit Parente for the go-ahead scored with 4:28 to play. Georgian Court won the ensuing faceoff and tied the game once again. Sophomore
Manuele D'Alessio (Mount Laurel, N.J.) made a key save with under a minute left and an offsides penalty by the Lions gave Post man-up with just 36 seconds left. The Eagles were unable to get off a shot in the closing seconds.
Shots were even at 39 each, while Post held a slim 25-23 advantage on goal. Georgian Court narrowly won the groundball battle at 27-26. Auten led the team with four, while five others had three groundballs. Sophomore

Post will be the No. 3 seed in next weekend's inaugural CACC Tournament hosted by Georgian Court. The Eagles will play No. 2 seed Chestnut Hill on Friday, April 27 in Lakewood, N.J.
