Pomona, N.Y. – The Post University baseball team erupted for 15 hits in game one, and held off a late rally by Nyack in game two as it swept the Warriors 12-7 and 4-2 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon.

The wins got the Eagles back to .500 on the season at 10-10 overall and 2-2 in the CACC.

Post got on the board early in game one as the first four batters reached base in the top of the first capped by an RBI single by junior Rosario Missiti (Belmont, Mass.) that drove in freshman Jose Vasquez (New York, N.Y.) for the game's first run. After a sacrifice fly from junior John Cartagena Jr. (Danbury, Conn.) made it a 2-0 game, senior Don Walsh (Hamilton, N.J.) scored on an error after a single from junior Tyler Pavone (Plainville, Conn.) to put the Eagles up 3-0 after the first inning.

The Eagles would take a 6-0 lead as freshman Connor Kolich (Mahwah, N.J.) hit an RBI single in the top of the second to score senior Alex Wright (Butler, N.J.) and back to back singles by Walsh and Missiti gave the Eagles the six run lead in the top of the fourth.

After the Warriors scored one in the bottom of the fourth, the Eagles put away the game in the next half inning, capped by a two-run double by Walsh to make it 10-1. The Warriors wouldn't get any closer than five runs the rest of the way.

Kolich reached base all six times, going 4-for-4 with two walks while scoring four runs and driving in another two. Walsh went 3-for-5 with four RBI and a run. Missiti was 3-for-6 with two RBI. Cartagena Jr. also drove in two.

Starting freshman Matt Goehrig (Clifton, N.J.) received the win, pitching five innings and giving up four runs – three earned on eight hits and a walk while striking out four.

Luke Kelly homered for Nyack.

In game two, the Eagles jumped out to a 4-0 lead before they had to hold off a last inning rally by Nyack for the win.

Up 1-0 in the top of the fourth, and having already driven in a run, Cartagena reached on an error, scoring Missiti and Walsh, which gave the Eagles a 3-0 lead. Junior John Russo (Bronx, N.Y.) would also reach on an error at third base, which scored Cartagena.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Warriors (9-11-1) got their first two batters on base before junior Michael Munson (Plainville, Conn.) got Austin Fischer to pop out. However, Nyack would score on a passed ball that scored Anthony Torreullas. After a walk and a strikeout, Chris Colotti singled to score Carlos Pino. But with runners on first and second Munson got Vasquez to pop out to short to end the game.

Junior Tyler Kovalewich (Colonia, N.J.) started on the mound and got the win, pitching six innings and striking out three while just giving up two runs - one earned on five hits.

Up next for Post is a CACC doubleheader at Concordia on March 30 beginning at noon.
