MIDDLEBURY, Conn. – The Post University men's tennis team dropped a tough 5-4 match to regionally-ranked St. Thomas Aquinas on Tuesday in its home-opener at Edgewood Bath & Tennis in Middlebury.
Seniors
Nikola Crvelin (Kaštel Lukšic, Croatia) and
Ludvig Henrikson (Taby, Sweden) won the Eagles' only doubles point at No. 1 with an 8-3 win over Jakob Ljungberg and Luke Taplin.
Post took the first three singles matches to jump in front 4-2 in the match. Sophomore
Samuel Urban (Košice, Slovakia) defeated Paul Voigt 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4. Crvelin took down Ljungberg 6-4, 7-5 and sophomore
Joe Alvord (Southbury, Conn.) defeated Taplin 7-5, 7-6 (7-5).
The match came down to No. 5 singles as junior
Peter Rossel (Vienna, Austria) lost a heatbreaker to Enej Hasicevic 6-1, 6-7 (6-8), 6-3.
Post returns to action on Saturday at the University of the District of Columbia at 11 a.m.
