Winning Streak Hits Three Games As Eagles Beat Goergian Court, 77-67

Lakewood, N.J. – Graduate student Jasmyne Fogle (Bridgeport, Conn.) scored 22 points as the Post University women's basketball team won their third straight game, a 77-67 decision over Georgian Court in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game on Saturday afternoon.

The win puts the Eagles at 5-14 overall and 4-9 in the CACC.

Post dominated from the opening tip, jumping out to an early 8-1 lead before taking a 20-7 lead after the first ten minutes of the game. Junior Lauren Chambers (Lebanon, Pa.) hit two three-pointers in the quarter as well as one from Fogle to give the Eagles the early cushion. Six different Eagles scored in the quarter, led by Chambers with six points.

After extending their lead to 17 points at 24-7, Georgian Court went on a 12-3 run on their own before three straight baskets from Chambers, sophomore Ann Marie Nelson (Draper, Utah) and junior Gabriela Middleton (Coral Springs, Fla.) stopped the Lions run. The Eagles would take a 41-31 lead at the half. Chambers had ten points in the half to lead the Eagles.

A 13-4 run to start the third quarter for the Lions cut the Eagles lead to 45-44, but that's as close as they would get the rest of the quarter as the Eagles would go on a 7-0 run on their own – capped by a three from Middleton – to go back up 52-44 before taking a 56-52 lead heading into the fourth.

Post was able to hold off any hope the Lions had at coming back in the fourth quarter as the Eagles would extend the lead to seven (59-52) on their first possession of the quarter on a three from Fogle. After the Lions (4-17, 2-12 CACC) cut the deficit to 71-67 on a jumper from Alba Herrero-Gomez with 1:50 left, Chambers made a layup on their next possession and the team went 4-for-4 down the stretch from the free-throw line to hold on for the win. Fogle and Middleton each hit a pair from the charity stripe to seal the game.

Chambers finished with 16 points and six assists. Middleton had nine points and eight rebounds and Nelson had 11 points and eight rebounds off of the bench for the Eagles.

Post made the most of their second chance opportunities, scoring 19 points off of their 18 offensive rebounds. Led by Nelson, the Eagles outscored Georgian Court's bench, 21-8.

Destiny Thompson had 27 points to lead Georgian Court on 11 of 16 shooting.

The next game for the Eagles is a big one, as they take on Felician in a CACC home game on February 7 at 5:30 p.m. The two teams are tied for the final CACC tournament spot in the North Division.
