Men’s Basketball Falls to Concordia 72-65 on Senior Day

Desrosiers scores 23 points in final collegiate game

WATERBURY, Conn.  – The Post University men's basketball team was defeated by Concordia 72-65 in its season finale at the Drubner Center on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles finish the year with a 7-21 overall record and 6-13 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play.

Post used a 17-4 run to turn a 9-7 deficit into a 24-13 lead with 9:34 to play in the first half. The Eagles hit five three-pointers as part of the run, two by senior Joseph Lockwood (London, England) who was 3-for-3 from distance finishing with 13 points and five rebounds.

Concordia caught fire from distance as it nailed threes in each of its next three possession to pull within two, but Post was able to maintain the lead throughout most of the second half. The Clippers went ahead 34-33 with 3:02 left and took a 38-36 advantage into halftime.

Alex White Jr. and Stephen Milhaven combined to score the first eight points of the second half as Concordia built its largest lead of the game at 45-36. Out of a timeout, the Eagles staged a 12-2 run to take a one-point lead with 14:50 to play. Senior Tyler Desrosiers (Agawam, Mass.) made a three, stole the ball, then drilled another from distance to cap the stretch. He finished with a game-high 23 points.

Post extended its advantage to four points after a three-pointer by freshman Darrick Boyd (Springfield, Mass.), but the Clippers used an 8-2 stretch to pull in front 59-55 with 8:49 remaining and never trailed again.

Boyd added 10 points and four assists. Sophomore Savion Boissard (Walden, N.Y.) chipped in six points off the bench.

The Eagles hit a season-best 13 three-pointers and nine steals, led by Desrosiers who had five of each.
