SHELTON, Conn. – The sixth-seeded Post University women's ice hockey team fell to third-seeded Sacred Heart 6-0 in the first round of the New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) Tournament at the Sports Center of Connecticut in Shelton on Wednesday night.
Sophomore
Jenna Baumgartner (Roseau, Minn.) stopped all 26 shots she faced to keep the game scoreless in the first period. She finished with 61 saves on the night, the third time the netminder eclipsed the 60-save mark this season.
Sacred Heart broke through with its first goal with early in the second and added two more over the final 1:45 of the period to take a 3-0 lead into the intermission. The Pioneers scored twice on a power-plays in the third and tallied its final goal with just 19 second to play in the game.
Sophomore
Molly Brumfield (Columbus, Ohio) won five face-offs and was one of five Eagles to record a shot on goal.
