Chambers Scores 23 As Eagles Crush Nyack In Wire-To-Wire Win, 91-71

Nyack, N.Y.  The Post University women's basketball team scored the first six points of the game, and never trailed, as it defeated Nyack, 91-71 on Tuesday evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game.

It was the second straight win for the Eagles, who were led by junior Lauren Chambers (Lebanon, Pa.), who scored a career-high 23 points.

Junior Gabriela Middleton (Coral Springs, Fla.) got the party started for the Eagles with the first two points of the game, followed by a bucket from Chambers and one from freshman Meaghan Gotham (Revere, Mass.) as the Eagles jumped out to a 6-0 lead. Chambers would finish with seven points in the quarter as the Eagles took a 20-12 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Post would extend their lead to 44-30 at the half as the Eagles hot shooting continued. With the Eagles up 33-24, midway through the quarter, the Eagles rattled off eight straight points, scoring on four of their five possessions. Graduate student Jasmyne Fogle (Bridgeport, Conn.) scored the last four points of the run.

The Eagles would extend their lead to as much as 25 points in the second half as the Eagles shot 52.2% from the field in the third and fourth quarters. Gotham scored nine of her 11 points in the second half, going 3-for-3 from the field.

Post (4-14, 3-9 CACC) made the most of its opportunity at the free-throw line, going 28-for-35 from the charity stripe. Chambers went 7-for-8 from the line. Junior Kiana Nichols (Newburgh, N.Y.) was a perfect 5-for-5.

Middleton finished with 18 points and four rebounds. Fogle finished with 15 points and eight assists. Nichols had nine points and seven assists.

Led by Gotham, the Eagles bench outscored Nyack's, 18-8. The Eagles also made the most of their offensive rebounds, scoring 18 second chance points.

Bryanna Brown led Nyack (2-20, 2-11 CACC) in scoring with 19 points. Audrey Matteson had 16.

Up next for the Eagles is a CACC road game at Georgian Court on Feb. 3 at 1 p.m.
