WATERBURY, Conn. – Late goals by sophomore
Samuel Urban (Kosice, Slovakia) and freshman
Sergio Diaz (Madrid, Spain) weren't enough as the Post University men's soccer fell at home to Concordia 3-2 on a rainy Tuesday afternoon at LaMoy Field.
After allowing two easy goals in the first half, the Eagles took control of the game in the second, outshooting the Clippers 14-5 and 10-3 on goal. Concordia had a rush off the rebound of a Post corner early in the half and Dennis Limani scored to put the visitors ahead 3-0.
Post had three straight chances on target in the 69
th minute, but were unable to get on the board. Sergio struck a rocket in the 75
th minute on a penalty kick, but was denied by Concordia keeper Jaime Gonzalez. He later had a shot that hit the crossbar, Urban controlled the ball and scored his first career goal in the 81
st minute.
Graduate student
Najja Forbes (San Fernando, Trinidad & Tobago) launched a shot of the crossbar on the Eagles next possession. In the 87
th minute, Sergio raced past Gonzalez as he left the net and scored easily to make the score 3-2. Freshman
Alvaro Sanchez (Madrid, Spain) had a late chance to tie it for the Eagles.
Post will look to get back on track Saturday at home against Chestnut Hill. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
