Post Softball Drops Non-Conference Doubleheader at Southern New Hampshire

Owens has two hits in opener, Eagles no-hit in game two

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Post University softball team was swept in a non-conference doubleheader at Southern New Hampshire on Monday afternoon. The Eagles led early in game one but fell 3-2 and did not record a hit in an 8-0 loss in the finale.

Senior Kayla Kresley (Alburtis, Pa.) started a two-out rally in the first inning of game one as she reached on an infield single, her third such hit in the last three games. After stealing second base she came home as junior Emily Schaffer (Hazlet, N.J.) hit a RBI single up the middle. Senior Erica Ragazzone (Philadelphia, Pa.) gave Post a 2-0 lead with a base hit to right center.

Southern New Hampshire tied the game in the bottom of the first with a double to right-center by Sarah Lavallee that scored two. In the third, the Penman added the eventual winning run on a wild pitch.

Senior Kristen Owens (Exton, Pa.) had her first of two hits on the day in the fifth inning. A four-pitch walk by Kresley put two on for the Eagles, but they were unable to tie the game. Owens was also stranded on first after a two-out single in the seventh.

In game two, Post looked to jump ahead in the first once again as freshman Leyri Rivera (Dover, N.J.) reached on a throwing error. Kresley followed with a walk, but she would be the Eagles' final baserunner of the afternoon as Lavallee was perfect the rest of the way.

After six games in three days, Post gets a day off before it returns to LaMoy Field on Tuesday for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader against Concordia. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
