Taylor Ceballos (Milford, Conn.) had her best game of her young career, scoring 23 points and grabbing 10 rebounds, but the Post University women's basketball team lost 68-56 to Goldey-Beacom in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game Saturday afternoon.
With the loss, the Eagles are 2-21 on the season and 2-13 in the CACC. Goldey-Beacom is now 15-9 overall and 11-4 in the CACC.
Senior
Tyra Jones (Rochester, N.Y.) scored nine of the first ten points for the Eagles as they fell behind 31-16 after the first quarter. She would lead the Eagles in scoring in the half with those nine points as they trailed 51-29 at the break.
After falling behind by as much as 26 in the first half, the Eagles kept on fighting in the second half, cutting their deficit to 12, and outscoring the Lightning 27-17 in the second half. Ceballos scored 16 of her 23 points, including eight in the fourth quarter to help narrow the gap.
Jones finished with 12 points for the Eagles. Classmate
Deaisia Acklin (Bronx, N.Y.) scored 10 points and had eight rebounds.
The Eagles outrebounded the Lightning, 43-34 in the game.
Britani Bryson led Goldey-Beacom in scoring with 10 points. Tanner Turner-Rush had 11.
Up next for the Eagles is a CACC home game against Bloomfield at 5:30 p.m. on February 7.
