Rutherford, N.J.– Senior Deaisia Acklin (Bronx, N.Y.) led three Eagles in double figures with 15 points, but the Post University women's basketball team dropped a 65-61 game to Felician in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game on Wednesday evening.
The Eagles, who earlier this season came back from 25 points down to beat Felician at the Drubner Center on Nov. 30, came back from 16 points down with 5:51 remaining in the third quarter at 48-32 and took a 53-52 lead with 6:27 left in the fourth. During the 21-4 run, Acklin scored five points, junior Lexus Childs-Harris (New London, Conn.) had four points and sophomore Ariel Fulton (Waterbury, Conn.) had four, including the layup that gave the Eagles the lead after a steal from sophomore Gabriella Middleton (Coral Springs, Fla.).
The two teams would play it tight the rest of the way, but Felician hit its final eight free-throws of the game to get them the win. Danelle Gibson and Marya Trapp each went 4-for-4 from the free-throw line down the stretch.
Post took a 13-12 lead after the first quarter. Childs-Harris scored four points, including a layup with 28 seconds left to give the Eagles the lead at the end of the quarter.
The Golden Falcons took a 33-27 into the half, thanks in large part to a 9-0 run early on in the quarter.
Senior Tyra Jones finished with 14 points and eight rebounds. Childs-Harris had 12 points, five rebounds and four assists and freshman Taylor Ceballos (Milford, Conn.) had 10 rebounds.
Gibson led Felician with 14 points. Kristin Smith pulled down 15 rebounds to go along with her seven points.
Up next for the Eagles is another CACC road game as they take on Goldey-Beacom on Feb. 4 at 1 p.m.
