Waterbury, Conn.  – Junior Gabriela Middleton (Coral Springs, Fla.) had 15 points and 11 rebounds and freshman Meaghan Gotham (Revere, Mass.) had 12 points and ten rebounds, but the Post University women's basketball team dropped a 78-67 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game to Dominican on Saturday afternoon at the Drubner Center.

After falling behind 15-10 at the end of the first quarter, the Eagles jumped out to an 11-6 run to begin the second quarter to tie the game up at 21-21. The run was capped by a layup and free-throw from Middleton. Gotham had four of her 12 points during that stretch. Dominican would increase their lead to as much as 13 points (37-24) during the quarter, but two three-pointers by junior Toni Deren (Greenlawn, N.Y.) cut the deficit to 39-30 at the half.

Post would get as close as five points the rest of the way but couldn't get past the hot shooting Chargers who were 13-for-24 in the second half to go along with their 12-for-15 performance from the free-throw line in the final 20 minutes.

The Eagles (2-7, 1-3 CACC) were dominant on the boards all game, outrebounding the Chargers, 48-37, including 29 offensive rebounds that led to 22 second-chance points. Gotham had eight offensive rebounds. Middleton had six. 

Deren finished with 14 points on the day, including four three-pointers. Freshman Katelyn Andres (North Bergen, N.J.) had nine points.

Dominican shot 58 percent from the field (29-for-50), led by Alpreshia Parker who was 8-for-13 from the field for 19 points.

Up next for the Eagles is a non-conference home game against the University of New Haven on Sunday at 1 p.m.
