Waterbury, Conn. – Junior Toni Deren (Greenlawn, N.Y.) made six three pointers, but the Eagles dropped a 91-60 out of conference game to New Haven on Sunday afternoon at the Drubner Center.
Deren finished with 20 points, going 6-for-12 from three on the day.
After falling behind 56-22 at the half, the Eagles (2-8) came out in the third quarter and rallied to cut the deficit to 24 points at 60-36 thanks to full court pressure defense and hot shooting from Deren and classmate Gabriela Middleton (Coral Springs, Fla.). During a 14-2 run, Deren hit two three-pointers and Middleton scored five.
Post outscored the Chargers 21-17 in the frame.
The Chargers were able to hold their lead throughout the fourth quarter for the win, moving them to 5-6 on the season.
Middleton finished with 11 points and three steals.
Alexandria Kerr scored 36 points on 14-for-19 shooting to go along with seven rebounds for New Haven.
