Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Fogle Scores 37, But Eagles Lose Tight Clash To AIC, 77-72

Waterbury, Conn.  Graduate student Jasmyne Fogle (Bridgeport, Conn.) led a second half comeback that fell just short as the Post University women's basketball team dropped a non-conference game to American International College, 77-72.

Fogle finished the day with 37 points, including 17 in the third quarter.

With the Eagles down 48-34 with 6:22 left in the third, the Eagles went on a 21-12 run to end the quarter, highlighted by Fogle, who scored all 17 of her points during the stretch. She hit two three pointers during the stretch and was fouled three times while making a layup and converted the free throw each time.

The Eagles would keep the hot streak going in the fourth quarter, as Fogle capped a 7-0 run with a three-pointer to give Post a 62-60 lead with 7:15 remaining.

AIC, however, take the lead with 5:43 left on a layup by Jayda Gilmore and never relinquish.

Post jumped out to a 5-0 lead early on as freshman Meaghan Gotham (Revere, Mass.) made a layup to begin the game followed by a three-pointer by junior Lauren Chambers (Lebanon, Pa.). Gotham and Chambers each scored four points in the quarter to go with nine for Fogle as the Eagles took a 21-17 lead after the first ten minutes.

The Eagles outscored AIC in bench points, 17-14, and second chance points, 13-6.

The Eagles shot 7-for-22 (31.8 pct.) from three, led by Fogle who was 5-for-6 from deep. Gotham finished with six points and seven rebounds. Freshman Katelyn Andres (North Bergen, N.J.) scored 17 to go along with three steals.

Dana Watts led the Yellow Jackets (2-6) in scoring and rebounds with 32 and 12, respectively.

Up next for the Eagles (1-3) is their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opener as they host Bloomfield on December 5 at 5:30 p.m.
