Eagles Lead Early, But Fall To St. Anselm, 83-44

Waterbury, Conn.  The Post University women's basketball team took an early first quarter lead, but dropped an 83-44 game to St. Anselm on Sunday afternoon in a non-conference game.

The Eagles jumped out to a 15-4 lead in the first 7:09 as five different Eagles scored during the opening run. Freshman Katelyn Andres (North Bergen, N.J.) led the way for Post in that stretch with five points. Post would take a 15-10 lead into the second quarter.

St. Anselm (7-4) would take a 32-24 lead at the half before pulling away in the second half.

Andres led the Eagles (2-5) in scoring with 10 points. Freshman Daja Polk (Fairfield, Conn.) had seven points and seven rebounds. Classmate Meaghan Gotham (Revere, Mass.) had six points and seven rebounds.

Shannon Ryan had 15 points and 18 rebounds to pace the Hawks. Ali Glennon led all Hawks with 18 points.

The Eagles outrebounded the Hawks on the offensive glass, 16-14.

Up next for the Eagles is a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference home game against Nyack on December 19 at 5:30 p.m.
