HENNIKER, N.H. – The Post University women's ice hockey team played to a 2-2 draw with New England College on Friday afternoon in Henniker, N.H. Freshman
Kayleigh Miller (Braselton, Ga.) and sophomore
Molly Brumfield (Columbus, Ohio) each scored for the Eagles.
New England controlled play to start the game as they outshot Post 11-0 out of the gate. Alexa Scribner put the Pilgrims in front at the 7:18 mark of the first. With 16 seconds remaining in the period, Miller found Brumfield for a score to tie the game 1-1 at the intermission.
Just as the Eagles killed off a penalty late in the second period and earned a power play of their own, Miller scored her second goal of the year to put Post in front 2-1. Sophomore
Julia Schatz (East Haven, Conn.) and freshman
Paige Dundas (La Broquerie, Manitoba) assisted on the go-ahead score.
Kathleen Zimmerman scored on a power play with 9:11 to go in regulation to tie the score 2-2. Post outshot NEC 7-1 the rest of the way, but were unable to put home a winner. Freshman goaltender Danaée St-Germain (Metcalfe, Ontario) made seven of her 39 saves in overtime to preserve the tie.
Post was outshot 41-21 on the day, but did hold a slim 10-9 advantage in shot in the third period. Brumfield had a team-high four shots.
The Eagles are back in action tomorrow afternoon at Southern Maine. Puck drops at 1 p.m.
