The Setters led by as many as five points in the first quarter, but a jumper by freshman
Meaghan Gotham (Revere, Mass.) off a dish from junior
Toni Deren (Greenlawn, N.Y.) made the score 15-12 in favor of Pace after one.
Gotham, who finished with 14 points and five rebounds, had five points as part of an 11-2 run by the Eagles to begin the second quarter as Post pulled ahead 23-17. Late free throws by the Setters sent the game into halftime with the Eagles in front 32-31.
The teams traded leads to start the second half until a three-pointer by freshman
Hannah Benac (Boerne, Texas) made the score 39-37 and the Eagles would never trail again. Post took its largest lead of the game at 48-39 with 3:21 to go in the third as Chambers put back a rebound off her own miss, but Pace closed out the period on a 9-0 run to knot the game at 48-48 headed into the fourth.
A jumper in the lane by Benac with 1:51 to go put Post in front 66-63. Pace cut the deficit to two points until two free-throws by graduate student
Jasmyne Fogle (Bridgeport, Conn.) and a steal by junior
Gabriela Middleton (Coral Springs, Fla.) iced the game.
Fogle grabeed a game-high 14 rebounds to go with 13 points. Middleton was 2-for-2 from distance to finish with 14 points and three steals. Benac added nine points and six boards. Post forced 20 turnovers which led to 19 points.
The Eagles return to action on Monday, Nov. 27 on the road at Franklin Pierce. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
