WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University men's soccer team snapped its two-game losing streak with a 4-2 victory over Holy Family on Saturday afternoon at LaMoy Field. Freshman
Sergio Diaz (Madrid, Spain) scored his first-career hat trick in the win.
The Eagles got on the board first in the 12
th minute as freshman
Alvaro Sanchez (Madrid, Spain) found Sergio in the box and he scored his first past a diving goalkeeper to the right side. Post continued to pepper the Tigers' goalkeeper with shots but the score remained 1-0.
Holy Family tied the game with a penalty kick in the 43
rd minute as the game was 1-1 heading into the half.
Post came out of the break looking to open the game up and outshot the Tigers 13-3 in the second half and 9-1 on goal. Sergio deked a defender out and scored his second goal easily in the 49
th minute to put the Eagles in front for good.
He completed the trick in the 58
th minute as he launched a cross from sophomore
Nicholas Osebio (Bethel, Conn.) from close range past the keeper. Holy Family answered a minute later as Mariano Cepeda scored his second of the game.
Sophomore
Eden Gendler (Haifa, Israel) put a stamp on the victory with his first goal of the year in the 61
st minute.
Post returns to action on Wednesday afternoon at Dominican. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m.
