WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University sprint football team lost its home finale 56-14 to Chestnut Hill on Saturday night at Municipal Stadium. Sophomore
Khaliq Little (Brooklyn, N.Y.) had a 73-yard touchdown run as the Eagles ran the ball for a season-high 195 yards.
Post kept the Griffins off the board in the first quarter. Freshman
David Mosley (Bridgeton, N.J.) found classmate
Devin Givens (New Orleans, La.) for a 38-yard pass to close out the first and set the Eagles up deep in Chestnut Hill territory. Three plays later, Post had a chance to put points on the board, but a 39-yard field goal attempt was blocked.
Chestnut Hill scored on a 61-yard touchdown pass from Michael Mareno to Reggie Robinson Jr. on its next possession. The Griffins would score on their first three times with the ball in the second quarter to pull in front 21-0 headed into the half.
Mosley burst out on a 42-yard run down to the Griffins' 37 to start the second half. Later in the drive he hit Givens for 17-yards to setup a first-and-goal for the Eagles. Givens then took a toss to the right in for a score from nine-yards out to cut the deficit to 21-7. Chestnut Hill scored its next three times down the field to go up 42-7.
Little broke through for the Eagles' longest play of the year to make the score 49-7 with 6:16 to go in the game.
Post nearly added a final touchdown on its last possession. Freshman
Luis Medina (Bristol, Conn.) sprinted out for a 35-yard run followed by classmate
Matthew Swormstedt (Laconia, N.H.) hitting
Golden Borden (New Orleans, La.) for 28-yards down to the three. The Eagles were unable to score before time ran out.
Mosley finished with 75-yards through the air and 57 on the ground. Little had 82 rushing yards while Medina added 46 yards. Givens finished with five catches for 78 yards.
Freshman
Calvin Harris (New Britain, Conn.) led the defense with eight tackles and a forced fumble. Junior
Matthew Terlizzi (Watertown, Conn.) and senior
Eleodoro Perez (Chino, Calif.) each added seven stops.
The Eagles will close out the season on next Friday night Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. at Cornell in Ithaca, N.Y.
