Post Football Forces School-Record Six Turnovers in Loss to Cornell

Eagles finish season 0-7

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Post University sprint football team was defeated by Cornell 38-21 in its season finale on Friday night at Schoellkopf Field in Ithaca, N.Y. The Eagles defense forced a program-record six turnovers (three fumbles, three interceptions) in the loss.

Things did not start off well for the Eagles as on a fumble on their second play of the game was returned for a touchdown by Cornell. Post was forced to punt on its next possession, but a fumble on the return gave the Eagles the ball on the Big Red 34-yard line.

Freshman David Mosley (Bridgeton, N.J.) ran for 26 yards as the Eagles drove deep into Cornell territory. Mosley found freshman Donovan Dorce (New Britain, Conn.) from four yards out to tie the score 7-7 midway through the first quarter.

A 40-yard return on the ensuing kickoff set the Big Red up at midfield. After being stopped on third down, Cornell setup for a 34-yard field goal, but junior Matthew Terlizzi (Watertown, Conn.) broke through the line and blocked the kick to keep the game tied through a quarter.

Cornell scored two touchdowns and a field goal in the second quarter to take a 24-7 lead into halftime. The Eagles best opportunity in the second came on their opening drive as they got down to the 23-yard line before being backed up and forced to punt.

Late in the third quarter, freshman Treyvon Curtis (Fort Meyers, Fla.) picked off Cornell quarterback Connor Ostrander and took it in from 55-yards out to cut the deficit to 38-13. Curtis snagged another interception in the end zone later in the third as Post forced three turnovers in the quarter.

Post had a 13-play 68-yard drive midway through the fourth but stalled at the Cornell 1-yard line on fourth-and-goal. Two plays later freshmen Hansley Dalambert (Burlington, N.J.) and Luke Collins (Brasher Falls, N.Y.) made a stop in the backfield for a safety to make the score 38-15.

After the ensuing kickoff, Mosley found freshman Devin Givins (New Orleans, La.) for 62-yards down to the Cornell eight-yard line. Later in the drive, sophomore Khaliq Litte (Brooklyn, N.Y.) caught an 11-yard touchdown for the final score of the game.

Mosley threw for 160 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 39 yards. Givens made a season-high seven catches for 107 yards.
Senior Trevor Patterson (Wildomar, Calif.) led the defense with 10 tackles (nine solo) and a forced fumble. Junior Roosevelt Bryant (Fort Meyers, Fla.) added six tackles and a fumble recovery.
