Tyra Jones (Rochester, N.Y.) led four Eagles in double figures with 22 points, but the Post University women's basketball team lost 108-80 to Chestnut Hill in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game Wednesday afternoon.
The 80 points were the most the Eagles have scored in a game this season.
During a fast paced first quarter, Jones scored eight straight points for the Eagles. However, the Griffins closed the quarter with a 7-1 run to give them a 34-21 lead at the end of the first ten minutes.
After Chestnut Hill extended its lead to 56-31 with 3:36 left in the second quarter, the Eagles finished the quarter on a 9-2 run to cut the deficit to 58-40. Senior
Deaisia Acklin (Bronx, N.Y.) scored seven straight points during the run.
The Griffins were able to extend its lead and put the game out of reach heading into the fourth as they led by 33 points heading into the final frame.
Junior
Abriana Diana (Hartford, Conn.) flirted with a triple-double, scoring 15 points, grabbing nine rebounds to go along with seven assists. Sophomore
Gabriela Middleton (Coral Springs, Fla.) finished with 13 points, six rebounds and seven assists and senior Acklin had 11 points.
Caity Kuhnen and Mary Trossi led all Chestnut Hill players in scoring with 19 apiece. Jaeda Wildgoose had 18 points.
The Eagles come back to the Drubner Center in their next game as they host Georgian Court at 1 p.m. on January 7 in a CACC tilt.
