Caldwell, N.J. – Senior
Tyra Jones (Rochester, N.Y.) scored 21 points on 7-for-11 shooting, but the Post University women's basketball team dropped an 89-56 Central Athletic Collegiate Conference game to Caldwell on Monday night.
The Eagles (1-17, 1-9 CACC) took two early leads in the first quarter as a jumper from Jones put Post up 2-0 early on. They'd again lead 5-3 after two more free throws from Jones.
Caldwell (15-3, 10-0 CACC) would end the quarter on an 11-4 run to take a 14-9 lead after the first ten minutes.
After the Cougars extended their lead to 15 points at 26-11, the Eagles used the deep ball to cut the lead to nine points as junior
Sierra Green (Austin, Texas) and freshman
Taylor Ceballos (Milford, Conn.) hit back-to-back threes to make it a 26-17 game.
Caldwell went up 42-26 at the half as Jones scored 17 in the first half.
The Eagles got no closer than 12 points the rest of the way as the Cougars were able to close out the game in the second half.
Senior
Deaisia Acklin (Bronx, N.Y.) finished with 12 points. Green was 3-for-6 from three-point range and finished with nine points.
Antoinette Pilla and Karlie O'Driscoll led five Cougars in double figures with 14 points.
