Hackett Scores Twice as Eagles Fall at Keene State 7-2

Post returns to action Friday at Fredonia

Box Score KEENE, N.H. – The Post University men's ice hockey team dropped its second game in back-to-back nights on Saturday with a 7-2 loss at Keene State. Freshman Tyler Hackett (Branford, Conn.) scored his team-leading eighth and nine goals of the season.

Keene State struck first at the halfway mark of the first period with a power play goal from defenseman Derek Clark. Post answered back quickly with 6:30 left as Hackett scored his first of the game. Assists on the goal were credited to freshman forward Matt Moreschi (Malden, Mass.) and sophomore defenseman Max Lagasse (Wolcott, Conn.), his first of the year.

The Owls added two more in the period and did not look back. Both teams engaged in a special teams battle for most of the game with 72 combined penalty minutes had been issued by the officials. Keene State cashed in for five power play goals before the final buzzer. Post was outshot 38-16 on the night.

Late in the third period, Hackett added his second score of the game with helpers from junior forward Christopher Harris (Barnstable, Mass.) and freshman forward Noah Wild (Wading River, N.Y.). Newcomer Wild now has four points in four games since joining the Eagles.

Post will head into this coming week with a few days of practice before heading off on the road again against SUNY Fredonia in a weekend series up in Fredonia, N.Y. The first game is at 7 p.m. on Friday at the Steele Hall Ice Arena.
