Eagles Lead At Half, But Fall To Philadelphia

Philadelphia, Pa. – After holding a halftime lead, the Post University women's basketball team lost 59-51 to Philadelphia on Tuesday evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game.

Senior Tyra Jones (Rochester, N.Y.) led the way for the Eagles with 15 points on 6-for-10 shooting.

Post jumped out to leads of 6-0 and 9-2 early, as senior Deaisia Acklin (Bronx, N.Y.) hit two of her first three shots, including a three. Philadelphia would end the quarter on a 21-8 run.

Post let its defense do the talking in the second quarter, outscoring the Rams 16-5 in the frame. Jones did most of her scoring in the period, tallying nine points. The Eagles led 33-28 at the half.

Post held Philadelphia to 2-for-14 shooting in the quarter, and forced five turnovers.

The Rams regained the lead in the third, going up 45-40 after closing out the Eagles 14-5 to end the quarter.

Philadelphia pushed its lead to eight to begin the fourth, but the Eagles kept fighting, knocking the deficit to three points at 52-49 after a three-pointer from junior Sierra Green (Austin, Texas) and a jumper from freshman Taylor Ceballos (Milford, Conn.). It'd be as close as the Eagles would get the rest of the way.

Acklin finished the night with 11 points. Ceballos had six points and seven rebounds.

Alynna Williams led all Rams players in scoring with 15.

Up next for the Eagles is a CACC home game against USciences on January 14 at 1 p.m.
