Post Sprint Football Drops Road Game at Navy

Patterson makes 11 tackles on the night

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Post University sprint football team was defeated by Navy 50-0 in a Collegiate Sprint Football League (CSFL) matchup in Annapolis, Md. on Friday night. The Eagles fall to 0-2 heading into their home opener next Saturday.

After allowing a touchdown to open the game, the Eagles drove into Navy territory on an eight play 41-yard drive but were forced to punt. Freshman quarterback Buddy Enriquez (Sacramento, Calif.) found sophomore Robert Sherry III (New Milford, Conn.) twice for 28 yards on the drive.

The Eagles would get onto the Navy side of the field just once the remainder of the game as they drove down to the 15-yard line before a penalty moved Post back to the Navy 37. Two plays later Enriquez was picked off on a deep pass to the end zone to end the threat.

Enriquez threw for a game-high 139 yards on the night. Senior Jarrick Sharp (Hampton, Va.) caught five passes for 70 yards.

Junior Trevor Patterson (Wildomar, Calif.) had 11 tackles on the night to lead the Eagles. Seniors Chris Leggio (Brewster, N.Y.), Bernard Peterson (Pasadena, Md.), and freshman Quenntin Thompson (Amityville, N.Y.) each added nine tackles. Senior Bryan Sheppard (Passaic, N.J.) returned four kicks for 74 yards including a long of 20 yards.

Post will return to Waterbury on Saturday, Oct. 8 against Chestnut Hill in the CACC Bowl. Kickoff at Municipal Stadium is scheduled for 6 p.m.
