Philadelphia, Pa. – Junior
Rafael Tous (Flemington, N.J.) drove in four runs to help the Eagles win game two of a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader against Philadelphia, 6-4. The Eagles dropped game one, 13-7.
With the game one loss, the Eagles were knocked out of contention for a CACC tournament spot on the final day of the regular season.
In game two, Tous got the inning going with a two-run double down the right field line to plate senior
Erik Rodriguez (Miami, Fla.) and junior
Drew Deangelis (Robbinsville, N.J.). Tous again would drive in a run in the fourth to extend the lead to 3-0 on an RBI single to score freshman
Andrew Avots (South Brunswick, N.J.).
The Rams answered with three runs in the sixth to tie the game on a two-run double by Michael Melendez and a sac fly from Daniel Klusman.
It wouldn't take long for the Eagles to regain control of the game, as sophomore
Don Walsh (Hamilton, N.J.) hit a sacrifice fly to score sophomore
Alex Wright (Butler, N.J.). Post added on insurance in the eighth and ninth innings as Tous and drove in his fourth run of the game in the eighth on a single and junior
Rupert House (Spokane, Wash.) drove a run in on an RBI single in the ninth, giving Post a 6-3 lead.
Philadelphia added a run in the bottom of the ninth on a solo home run by Steven Wells.
Starting sophomore
Nick Arnold (West Islip, N.Y.) got the win for the Eagles (14-29, 8-12 CACC), pitching seven innings, giving up three earned runs on three walks and four hits while striking out one.
Tous finished the day going 3-for-4 with four RBI.
In game one, the Rams scored five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to secure a 13-7 win over the Eagles during a tightly contested game throughout.
After an RBI single by House in the top of the second to give Post a 1-0 lead, the Rams responded with five runs of their own in the bottom of the third, highlighted by a two-run homer by Fernando Garza. Philadelphia would add a run in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings to take a commanding 8-1. Garza hit his second homer of the game in the sixth, a solo shot.
However, the Eagles stormed back in the eighth as Post loaded the bases with no outs before a sac fly by Rodriguez scored Wright. Avots would then follow with a single that plated Walsh and junior
Joey Picone (Washingtonville, N.Y.). An RBI groundout from Deangelis made it an 8-6 Rams lead.
Philadelphia would answer with five runs of its own in the ninth, capped by a two-run homer by Wells to put them up 13-5 heading into the ninth.
Post's rally fell short in the ninth as Rodriguez hit a two-run single in the ninth to make it a 13-7 game.
Starting sophomore
Enzo Esposito (Hamilton, N.J.) finished the game pitching four innings, giving up five earned runs on five hits and five walks while striking out nine.
