Men’s Lacrosse Defeated by SNHU 15-12 in Season Finale

Eagles Finish Third Varsity Season at 6-8

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Post University men's lacrosse team closed out its season on Wednesday night with a 15-12 loss at Southern New Hampshire. Junior Paul Hylan (Clinton, Conn.) had three goals as the Eagles finish the year with a record of 6-8.

Freshman Patrick Egan (Colchester, Conn.) put the Eagles ahead 1-0 to start the game with his first of two goals on the night. Classmate Matthew Palmieri (Waldwick, N.J.) forced one of his game-high four turnovers on the next Penmen possession. Post had three shots on goal next time down the field before Hylan added to the Eagles lead.

Southern New Hampshire scored on its next four possessions and to take a 4-2 lead. Sophomore Frank Nichols Jr. (Oceanside, Calif.) ended the run with his 15 goal of the season. The Penmen added one more before the end of the first quarter and led 5-3.

Junior Trevor Buchas (Bristol, Conn.) started the scoring in the second quarter to bring the Eagles within one. Southern New Hampshire grabbed its largest advantage of the game at 8-4 with three straight goals. Junior Luke McDermott (New Milford, Conn.) and Egan each scored in the final 40 seconds cut the deficit to two, but the Penman took a 9-6 lead into the half with a goal as time expired.

The teams alternated goals throughout the entire second half as the Eagles were unable to pull any closer than three the rest of the way.

Post won the groundball battle, holding a 26-20 advantage. Hylan had five and three other Eagles picked up four. Buchas finished with two goals and three assists. Freshman Matthew Mazza (West Seneca, N.Y.) also had two goals.

Senior goalkeeper Rob Rohan (East Islip, N.Y.) made 14 saves.

The Eagles set new program highs this season in points (232), goals (157), and assists (75).
