Joey Picone went 3-for-4, as the Post University baseball team dropped an 8-1 game to LIU Post on Tuesday afternoon.
The lone run for the Eagles (5-5) came while they were down 8-0 in the seventh as freshman
Andrew Avots (South Brunswick, N.J.) hit an RBI double to score junior
Rupert House (Spokane, Wash.) who also doubled. House finished the day 2-for-4.
LIU Post jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the fourth inning on an RBI triple from Rob Andreoli and RBI singles from Kenny Daley and Jimmy Mendyk. They would tack on three more in the bottom of the fifth, including one on a solo home run by Thomas Asbaty. The Pioneers would score two more in the sixth on an RBI single coupled with a throwing error.
Junior
Joseph Enderle (Hicksville, N.Y.) received the loss for the Eagles, as he gave up three runs – all earned – on three hits and three walks in 3.1 innings. He also struck out two. Redshirt freshman Brett Pisanseschi (East Ouogue, N.Y.) and sophomore
Kyle Crimmins (Eastchester, N.Y.) came in relief, each striking out a pair.
Arena received the win for the complete game win for the Pioneers (4-6), striking out 11 while giving up nine hits and one earned run.
