CLERMONT, Fla. – The Post University softball team split a pair of games on day two of the NTC Spring Games in Clermont, Fla. on Sunday. The Eagles defeated Assumption 4-0 to start the day and fell to LIU Post 7-2 in the second game.

Natalie Lennox (Landenberg, Pa.) drew a walk to start the home half of the first inning. Senior
Kayla Kresley (Alburtis, Pa.) continued her hot start to the season as she drove Lennox in with a double to centerfield. Junior
Erica Ragazzone (Philadelphia, Pa.) followed with an RBI single up the middle to put the Eagles in front 2-0.
Post threatened in the fourth as junior Kate Dawson (Newfields, N.H.) started the frame with a single through the left side. Junior
Kristen Owens (Exton, Pa.) hit an infield single and later stole second to put two runners in scoring position with one out, but the Eagles were unable to push a run across.
Ragazzone launched a solo shot to centerfield in the fifth to extend the Eagles' advantage to 3-0. Hits by sophomore
Emily Schaffer (Hazlet, N.J.) and freshman
Marissa Wilson (Holbrook, N.Y.) and a walk by Dawson loaded the bases with one out before a double play ended the inning.
Owens scored on an error in the sixth for the final run. Senior
Samantha Esque (Springfield, Pa.) was dominant in the circle as she allowed just four hits and struck out six to pick up her second win of the year.
LIU Post 7, Post 2Two errors by Post led to a run for LIU in the second inning. The Pioneers struck for four more runs in the third as they opened a 5-0 lead. Owens reached on a bunt single to start the fourth, but was stranded at third base.
LIU Post extended its advantage to 7-0 with a home run and RBI single in the bottom of the fourth.
Schaffer hit a deep double to left center in the fifth inning. She advanced to third on a wild pitch and Dawson drove her in for the first Eagles' run. Junior
Jessica Grzywna (Philadelphia, Pa.) followed with a hit that put runners at the corners with just one out. After a popup, Owens reached on an error and Dawson came home to make the score 7-2.

Karoline Prevost (Fall River, Mass.) pitched two perfect innings in relief and struck out three.
The Eagles return to action tomorrow against Southwest Minnesota State at 1 p.m. and LeMoyne at 3 p.m.
