Dinwidde, Va. - Junior Drew Deangelis (Robbinsville, N.J.) broke a 3-3 tie with an RBI single in the top of the ninth as the Post University baseball team defeated University of California (Pa.), 4-3 in a non-conference game on Saturday afternoon.

After sophomore David Sarmiento (Miami, Fla.) started the top of the ninth with his fourth walk of the game, a sacrifice bunt by freshman Andrew Avots (South Brunswick, N.J.) advanced him to second. With one out, Deangelis singled into the outfield to score Sarmiento.

The Eagles jumped out to a 3-0 lead on a three-run home run by junior Rafael Tous (Flemington, N.J.) to score sophomore Don Walsh (Hamilton, N.J.) and junior Dan O'Neill (Saddle Brook, N.J.) early on, but the Vulcans responded with back-to-back home runs in the seventh inning. Garrett Brooks hit a two-run homer follwed by a solo shot from Austin Logan to tie the game, 3-3.

Starting pitcher, junior Matthew D'Ariano (Yonkers, N.Y.) had a solid outing for the Eagles, giving up two earned runs on three walks and six hits while striking out eight in six innings. Sophomore Nick Arnold (West Islip, N.Y.) pitched three innings of relief for the win. He gave up one run on one hit while striking out four. Jack Dennis got the loss for the Vulcans.
