SHELTON, Conn. – Moments after tying the game late in the third period, the Post University men's ice hockey team allowed a winner as it fell to Marist 3-2 in its home finale Friday night. Senior
Brian Beatson (Falls Church, Va.) and sophomore
Dave Canfarotta (Stratford, Conn.) provided the scoring for the Eagles.
The Red Foxes got on the board first with 8:40 left in the opening period. Post answered back late in the frame as freshmen
Max Lagasse (Wolcott, Conn.) and
Dom Senerchia (Walpole, Mass.) setup Canfarotta for the tying score.
Marist pulled ahead 2-1 in the second period with a power-play goal. With 3:01 left in the game, Canfarotta found Beatson for a goal to knot the game. The Red Foxes scored the winner with 1:15 remaining.
Post had three shots on goal after pulling freshman goaltender
Devin Day (Fontana, Calif.) for the final minute. Day made 38 saves on the night.
The Eagles inaugural season comes to a close on Thursday against Trinity at Veterans Memorial Rink in West Hartford, Conn. Puck drops at 8 p.m.
