West Haven, Conn. – Senior
Tyra Jones (Rochester, N.Y.) scored ten points and grabbed seven rebounds, but the Post University women's basketball team dropped a 67-37 out-of-conference game to New Haven Friday afternoon.
The Eagles led once in the game early on after senior
Deaisia Acklin (Bronx, N.Y.) made a layup with 5:03 left in the first quarter to give the Eagles a 5-4 lead. The Chargers went on to finish the quarter on a 12-1 run to lead 16-6 at the end of the first ten minutes.
New Haven extended its lead to 30-15 at the half and were able to maintain its lead throughout the rest of the game, outscoring the Eagles 18-9 and 19-13 in the third and fourth quarters, respectively.
Acklin finished with nine points and classmate
Dericka Sims (Chesapeake, Va.) and junior
Abriana Diana (Hartford, Conn.) finished with six points apiece.
The two teams were equal in the rebounding department as both teams had 41.
Alexandria Kerr led the way for New Haven with 17 points.
Up next for the Eagles is a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Road game as they take on Chestnut Hill on January 4 at 1 p.m.
