Nyack, N.Y. – One game after the most memorable comeback in school history, the Post University women's basketball almost had a repeat performance but dropped a 65-59 game to Nyack in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game Saturday afternoon.
Senior
Tyra Jones notched her first double-double of the season, scoring 17 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Freshman
Taylor Ceballos had 16 points and seven rebounds.
After falling behind 36-15 at the half, the Eagles were able to cut the deficit to 12 points after the third quarter thanks to four points from Jones and classmate
Dericka Sims (Chesapeake, Va.).
In the fourth quarter the Eagles went on a 15-5 run to make it a four point game with 15 seconds left, capped by a three-pointer by sophomore
Gabriela Middleton (Coral Springs, Fl.), who finished with six points. Ceballos came alive in the quarter, scoring eight points in the final 10 minutes of the game.
Senior
Deaisia Acklin (Bronx, N.Y.) was a monster on the boards, grabbing 15 rebounds to go along with her 6 points.
Kelli Smoot led the Warriors with 15 points. Tayelor McCalister had 12 points.
The Eagles (1-7, 1-2 CACC) outrebounded the Warriors, 60-45.
