Men’s Basketball Outlasts Bloomfield 91-86 in Double Overtime

Amos drops career-high 32 points

BLOOMFIELD, N.J. – The Post University men's basketball team made five of its six shots in the double overtime to defeat Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) rival Bloomfield 92-86 on Tuesday night in Bloomfield, N.J. Senior Malcom Amos (Brookport, Ill.) scored a career-high 32 points in the victory.

The teams were still tied 71-71 after two halves and an overtime period. The Eagles fell behind by one early in the second extra period, but three-pointers by Amos and junior Tyler Desrosiers (Agawam, Mass.)  gave Post a 79-76 lead with 2:31 left.

Bloomfield shot just 33.3 percent in the second overtime while the Eagles were 5-of-6 from the field and led by as many as eight points in the period.

Post started out sluggish as the Bears jumped out to a 25-12 lead midway through the first half. Amos scored seven points and junior Matt Mareno (San Francisco, Calif.) added five as the Eagles staged a 19-6 run to close the half to tie the game 31-31.

Mareno scored a layup to begin the second half and give Post its first lead of the night. Post trailed by as many as seven in the half, but a three-pointer by Desrosiers with 8:31 left put the Eagles in front 51-50. The teams would trade leads the remainder of regulation.

Amos hit a jumper to tie the game with 1:31 left. The Bears had a shot at the buzzer to win, but Marcus Felmming's attempt did not connect as the team went into overtime.
Post led 70-66 in the first overtime after a free-throw by junior Joseph Lockwood (London, England). Bloomfield closed the gap and a three-point play by Rakwan Kelly tied the game late in the extra period. Amos missed two late jumpers as the teams went into the second overtime.

Amos was 10-of-21 from the field and added five rebounds and four blocks. Desrosiers added 21 points. Mareno recorded his third double-double in the last four games with 10 points and 10 boards. Sophomore Tamas Okros (Bristol, England) added 11 points off the bench
