Deaisia Acklin (Bronx, N.Y.) and
Dericka Sims (Chesapeake, Va.) each scored eight points, but the Post University women's basketball team dropped its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opener to Bloomfield on Tuesday evening, 77-46.
After falling behind 4-0 early, a layup by Sims and a three-pointer by freshman
Samantha Levin (North Smithfield, R.I) on back-to-back possessions, gave the Eagles a 5-4 lead with 7:31 left in the first quarter, however the Bears finished the quarter on a 19-6 run to take a 23-11 lead.
A basket by senior
Nicole Sheloski (Hudson Falls, N.Y.) to start the second quarter cut the deficit to ten points before the Bears finished the half up 36-21. It would be as close as the Eagles would get the rest of the way as Bloomfield pulled away in the third quarter.
Levin finished with five points, two steals and two blocks. Freshman
Ann Marie Nelson (Draper, Utah) had six points and three rebounds.
Tiana Smith led the charge for the Bears with 30 points and 12-for-19 shooting.
On deck for the Eagles is an out of conference game at Pace on November 26 at 3 p.m.
