SHELTON, Conn. – Freshman
Tyler Hackett (Branford, Conn.) of the Post University men's ice hockey team scored his team-leading seventh goal of the year as the Eagles fell at home to William Paterson 6-1 on Saturday night.
"We were flat from the start and failed to execute as well as we needed to. We will regroup and be better the next time out," said head coach
Pete Whitney.
Post got on the board first at the 11:54 mark of the opening period. Hackett put the Eagles in front 1-0 with a score off assists from senior
Trevor Buchas (Bristol, Conn.) and junior
Christopher Harris (Barnstable, Mass.). The Pioneers put two in the net, including a power play goal, late in the period and led 2-1 after the first.
William Paterson did not look back from there, scoring three times in the second and one in the third.
The Eagles won a game-high 30 faceoffs on the night, led by junior
Dave Canfarotta (Stratford, Conn.) who won 11 of his 15 attempts. Hackett had a team-best five shots while sophomore
Peter Petrino (Derby, Conn.) added four of the Eagles 22 chances.
Post makes a trip to Hartford on Tuesday to play Trinity. Puck drops at 7:30 p.m.
