WATERBURY, Conn. – Sophomore
Matteo Moro (Rome, Italy) scored his first goal of the season in the 62
nd minute to lift the Post University men's soccer team over Georgian Court 2-1 at LaMoy Field on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles have won three straight and are 2-0 at home this season.
Senior
Patrick DeAngelo (Danbury, Conn.) hit a cross to Moro on the far post as he headed it home for the game-winner.
Georgian Court benefited from an early own goal by the Eagles as a pass back to the goalkeeper was mishit in the sixth minute. Post controlled play for most of the first half as it outshot the Lions 4-2, but were unable to get on the board.
Late in the half, the Eagles earned a penalty kick as junior
Kenu Walker (Kingston, Jamaica) was taken out in the box. Graduate student
Mamadee Kamara (Bronx, N.Y.) converted on the free kick to knot the game 1-1 heading into the half.
Post held a 7-2 advantage in shots and did not allow an attempt by the Lions in the second half. Senior
Jon Hanlon (Centereach, N.Y.) made one save on the day.
The Eagles are back at home on Wednesday against Wilmington. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
