MANSFIELD, Pa. – The Post University sprint football team fell to 0-6 on the year on Saturday afternoon with a 28-0 loss at Mansfield. Senior
Chris Leggio (Brewster, N.Y.) made a game-high 12 tackles on the day. The Eagles close the season at home next Saturday against Penn.
After a punt by Post to open the game, Mansfield quarterback Adam Hutchinson ran it in from seven yards out to but the home team in front 7-0. A 37-yard pass by Hutchinson led the Mounties down to the Eagles' one on their next drive. Hunter Brown rushed it in to extend the Mansfield lead to 14-0.
Post's best drive of the first half came early in the second quarter. Senior
Jarrick Sharp (Hampton, Va.) returned a punt down deep into Mansfield territory, but a penalty pushed the Eagles back to the 40-yard line to start the drive. Freshman
Sayvon Willis (Wilmington, Del.) found sophomore
Matthew Terlizzi (Watertown, Conn.) for 14 yards on third down to extend the drive before its stalled after an incomplete pass on fourth down on the Mounties' 21-yard line.
Mansfield added its final two scores in the third quarter.
Willis ended the night with nine completions for 55 yards. Freshman
Buddy Enriquez (Sacramento, Calif.) had 59 yards through the air. Sharp was the Eagles' leading receiver with three catches for 37 yards.
Senior
Fabian Santa Cruz (Vista, Calif.) had seven tackles and 1.5 sacks. The Eagles had a season-high four sacks on the day.
The 2016 season comes to a close on Saturday, Nov. 5 at LaMoy Field against Penn. Kickoff is scheduled for noon.
