Eagles Drop Close One To Concordia

Had Lead Going Into Fourth Quarter

Bronxville, N.Y. - The Post University women's basketball team had a lead heading into the fourth quarter, but fell short in a 52-42 loss to Concordia in a Central  Atlantic Collegiate Conference game on Thursday evening.

The Eagles (0-20, 0-11 CACC) jumped out to an 11-7 lead after the first quarter thanks in large part to five points from junior Tyra Jones (Rochester, N.Y.) and four points from sophomore Lexus Childs-Harris. Childs-Harris opened the game with four straight points.

After Concordia scored the first basket of the second quarter, freshman Gabriela Middleton (Coral Springs, Fla.) hit a three-pointer to give the Eagles a 14-9 lead. The lead would go back and forth over the rest of the quarter as the Clippers hit four three-pointers and Middleton would hit her second three-pointer of the quarter as the Clippers went into the half with a small 23-21 lead.

Middleton finished scored all six of her points in the first half. Jones had seven points in the half to lead the Eagles.

The two teams traded buckets for the first five-plus minutes of the third quarter before a jumper by junior Nicole Sheloski (Hudson Falls, N.Y.) fave the Eagles a 30-29 lead with 4:42 left in the third. A layup from Childs-Harris and another jumper with a Concordia (4-15, 2-10 CACC) layup mixed in between gave the Eagles a 34-31 lead going into the final frame.

In the fourth, Jessica Rosalbo of Concordia made two buckets early on to give the Clippers a 37-36 lead before back to back layups from Childs-Harris and Jones gave the Eagles their final lead of the game at 40-37 before Concordia closed out with a 15-2 run to end the game.

Childs-Harris finished with 13 points and four rebounds. Jones had nine points and six rebounds.

Rosalbo led the Clippers with 22 points. Hadiyah Black chipped in with eight points and 13 rebounds.

The Eagles outscored the Clippers on the bench, 15-14 and in fastbreak points, 10-4.

Up next for the Eagles is a CACC road game at Georgian Court at 1 p.m. on Jan. 30.
