Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Carroll Scores Twice In Win Over Goldey-Beacom

Undefeated In Conference Play

Wilmington, De.. - Senior Lexxi Carroll (Plainville, Conn.) scored two goals to lead the Post University women's soccer team to a 3-0 win over Goldey-Beacom on Saturday afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game. The win keeps the Eagles unbeaten in the CACC.

Post moves to 4-3-1 overall and  4-0-1 in the CACC.

Carroll got the scoring going in the 25th minute as Lightning goalkeeper Cindell Aguirre misplayed a ball allowing Carroll to score.

Junior Sylvia Yanez (West Haven, Conn.) would put home her third goal of the season in the 43rd minute from 25 yards out to give Post the 2-0 lead going into the half.

The Eagles out shot the Lightning, 8-3 in the half.

Carroll, who was playing with the flu according to coach Matt Micros, would add her second goal, and third of the season, in the 63rd minute of the game after taking a pass from sophomore Katherina Mertz (Buxtehude, Germany) and chipping it past Aguirre for the final tally of the game.

Goldey-Beacom outshot the Eagles 14-13, but were only able to get four of those shots on goal to the eight Post finished with. Senior Laura Morgan (Brush Prairie, Wash.) finished with four saves on the day.

Micros was very pleased with the effort of the defense of senior Valerie Moore (Bloomfield, Conn.), sophomore Misty Kaiwi (Waipahu, Hawaii), Morgan, sophomore Tiffany Ciavarella (Waterbury, Conn.) and freshman Alex Moeller (Norderstedt, Germany). "Defensively, Val Moore, Misty and Laura continued to be solid and Tiffany and Alex did a terrific job filling in for inured players. I give Goldey a lot of credit, too, as they were playing their third game in four days."

Up next for the Eagles is its final road game of the three-game road trip as it takes on Dominican on Sept. 29 at 4 p.m.
