WILMINGTON, Del. – Behind two goals and an assist from senior
Tiago Martins (Lamas de Olo, Portugal) the Post men's soccer team defeated Goldey-Beacom 3-0 on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles even their record at 4-4 on the season and are now 3-2 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play.
"We weren't our best and it was a grind all day. I'm proud of the guys for stepping up and getting the win on the road," said head coach
Ted Haley. "The defenders and Jon in goal played great to help up get another shutout."
Both teams came out firing to start the match as each connected on three shots on goal over the first 20 minutes. Martins had two shots on target early on. After a foul by the Lightning, Martins converted on the penalty kick to put Post in front 1-0 in the 37
th minute.
Goldey-Beacom did not go down easy and outshot the Eagles 14-9 on the day and had three shot early in the second half. Sophomore
Armando Filho (Cataguases, Brazil) extend the advantage to 2-0 as he deflected a shot by Martins past the keeper in the 69
th minute.

Jacob Butler-Bowdon (Adelaide, Australia) to seal the win
Junior goalkeeper
Jon Hanlon (Centereach, N.Y.) stopped five shots on the day for his second straight clean sheet.
