Eagles Lose To Warriors In CACC Game

Deaisia Acklin Leads Way With 14 Points For Post


Waterbury, Conn. – Junior Deaisia Acklin (Bronx, N.Y.) scored 14 points, but it wasn't enough as the Eagles dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game to Nyack, 75-53 on Wednesday evening.

The loss was the fifth straight for the Eagles, who are now 5-17 overall and 5-8 in the CACC. With the win, Nyack improves to 3-17 overall and 3-11 in the CACC.

The Warriors jumped out to a 4-0 lead early before the Eagles took a 6-4 lead after sophomore Nicole Sheloski's (Hudson Falls, N.Y.) two free throws with 14:16 remaining in the first half. The Eagles would hold the lead until the 5:23 mark. The teams would go back and forth the remainder of the half before Alyssa Gatti of Nyack hit a free throw with two seconds left in the first half to give the Warriors a 26-25 at the break. Sheloski, freshman Toni Deren (Greenlawn, N.Y.) and classmate Nicole Viselli (Groveland, Ma.) each scored five points for the Eagles in the half.

In the second half, the Eagles and Warriors would keep the game close for the first seven minutes before the Warriors went on a 26-9 run over the next eight minutes to put the game away.

Sheloski finished with nine points. Viselli and Deren each finished with eight.

Raven Makins and Jamie McKeither each finished with 27 points for the Warriors. McKeither also grabbed 16 rebounds.

Up next for the Eagles is a CACC road game at Philadelphia on Feb. 7 at 2 p.m.
