Eagles Taken Down By Bears, Clinch CACC Tournament Berth

Post Makes CACC Tournament For Second Time In Three Years

Bloomfield, N.J. - The Post University women's basketball team lost an 81-48 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference road game to Bloomfield on Tuesday night. Despite the loss, the Eagles clinched a spot in the CACC Tournament.

The Eagles are now 6-21 overall and 6-12 in the CACC.

Freshman Nicole Viselli (Groveland, Ma.) and sophomore Dericka Sims (Chesapeake, Va.) led the way for the Eagles with eight points each.

The two teams battled closely for the first five minutes of the game as Viselli opened up the game with a three-pointer to give the Eagles the lead early on. The teams would go on to swap leads before the Bears would go up 9-8 with 14:53 left and take the lead for good.

Bloomfield would then go on a 19-6 run midway through the first half and go into the break with a 40-24 lead.

The Eagles wouldn't get any closer than the halftime deficit as the Bears opened up the half with a three-pointer from Morgan Taylor and didn't look back.

Tianna Smith led three Bears in double-figures with 22 points. Ariel Wilson had 13 points and Tierra Scott scored 10.

The tournament bid is the second for Post in the last three years, prior to that the Eagles hadn't qualified since 2005-06.

Freshman Georgia Black (Burlington, Vt.) hit two three-pointers for six points. Junior Deaisia Acklin had seven points and a team-high nine rebounds.

Up next for the Eagles is their final regular season game, as they take on Georgian Court on Feb. 21 at 1 p.m. at the Drubner Center.
