Georgia Black Scores Career High As Eagles Fall

Viselli And Black Combine For Nine Three-Pointers

Freshman Georgia Black (Burlington, Vt.) scored a career-high 25 points and made five three-pointers off the bench, but the Post University women's basketball team fell short in an 81-61 loss at Dominican on Thursday night.

The Eagles are now 5-20 overall and 5-11 in the CACC. Dominican improves to 11-13 overall and 9-6 in the CACC.

In the first half, the Chargers jumped out to a 10-0 lead before the Eagles would close the gap with a 10-4 run capped by a layup by Black with 13:30 remaining. Freshman Lexus Childs-Harris (New London, Conn.), junior Deaisia Acklin (Bronx, N.Y.) and sophomore Dericka Sims (Chesapeake, Va.) each scored during the run.

Dominican would increase its lead back to 11 points, but again the Eagles would cut the deficit to five points (25-20) after a layup by Acklin. 

However, the Chargers finished the half on a 14-4 run to go into halftime leading, 39-24.

Black finished with six points in the first half as did freshman Nicole Viselli (Groveland, Ma.), who hit two three-pointers in the first 20 minutes.

Viselli would open up the second half with another three-pointer to cut the deficit to 12 to begin the half, but after the teams traded buckets for the first few minutes of the half, before the Chargers took control and extended its lead to as much as 25 points and hold on for the win.

Viselli finished with 12 points for the Eagles, all on three-pointers. Acklin finished with nine points. 

Four players scored in double figures for the Chargers, led by Deja Gabbidon who scored 27 points. She also had 13 rebounds for a double-double. Lashonda Hathorne scored 16.

Up next for the Eagles is a Valentine's Day matchup at Chestnut Hill at 1 p.m.
