Waterbury, Conn. - The Post University women's basketball team dropped a 107-61 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game to Caldwell on Tuesday evening, despite 15 points from junior Deaisia Acklin (Bronx, N.Y.)
It was the seventh straight loss for the Eagles, who are now 5-19 overall and 5-10 in the CACC. Caldwell improves to 14-10 overall and 11-4 in the CACC.Â
Caldwell jumped out to a 22-5 lead in the first 3:08 to stake claim to the game early on. The Eagles would play even with the Cougars for most of the remainder of the half before going into the break down 53-32.
Acklin led the way in the first half for the Eagles with eight points. Freshman Toni Deren (Greenlawn, N.Y.) hit two threes in the first half for six points.
Caldwell's Emily Caswell had a double-double in the first half with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
Post showed a spark early on in the second half as they went on a 6-0 run from the 15:21 mark to the 14:45 mark after a bucket from sophomore Dericka Sims (Chesapeake, Va.) and two layups from Acklin, cutting the deficit to 58-45.
The Eagles wouldn't get any closer the rest of the way as Caldwell would pull away over the final 14:45 to secure the win.
Freshman Lexus Childs-Harris finished with nine points and 11 rebounds for the Eagles. Deren finished with eight points.Â
Five players scored in double figures for the Cougars, led by Caswell who had a double-double with 26 points and 15 rebounds. Anoinette Pilla had 15 points.
Up next for the Eagles is a CACC road game at Dominican on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
