Jovan Kingwood (Norwich, Conn.) led three Eagles in double figures in a tightly contested 68-56 loss to Lock Haven on Wednesday afternoon in a women's college basketball game at the Drubner Center.
The Eagles were up by as much as four points in the first quarter before finishing it with a 20-19 lead. Post caught fire early from deep, hitting three three-pointers in the first quarter. Kingwood and juniors
Jessica Ayala (Middletown, N.Y.) and Derick Sims (Chesapeake, Va.) all were successful from beyond the arc for the Eagles. Sims finished with six points in the quarter.
Lock Haven took control in the second quarter and went into the break leading 36-26.
The Eagles trimmed the deficit to six points twice in the third; once on another three-pointer from Ayala at 7:17 to make it 40-34 and once on a free-throw from sophomore
Lexus Childs-Harris (New London, Conn.) at 3:24 to make the score 47-41. Â
The Bald Eagles would go up 51-43 at the end of the third.
In the fourth, Lock Haven went up by as much as 16 and the Eagles would get no closer than nine points. Sims and junior
Nicole Sheloski (Hudson Falls, N.Y.) each finished with ten points for the Eagles. Ayala finished with eight, including two thhree-pointers.
Rachael McDaniel led Lock Haven with 11 points. Lysa Mealing and Syvae McDaniel each had 10 points. Mealing also added 11 rebounds.
Post fell to 0-12 on the season. Lock Haven is now 5-7.
Up next for the Eagles is a non-conference home game against Pace at 2 p.m.
