GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – The Post University women's volleyball was defeated by top-seeded Adelphi 3-0 in the NCAA East Regional in Garden City, N.Y. on Thursday night. The set scored were 25-16, 25-18, and 25-16. The loss ends the Eagles season with a record of 25-10, their most wins since 2004.
Junior
Skylar German (Kansas City, Mo.) led Post with 10 kills, 11 digs and six blocks. Freshman
Brianna Root (Bristol, Conn.) put up 24 assists and 10 digs. Senior
Kristine Ripson (Youngstown, N.Y.) added five kills and three blocks.
Adelphi led from start to finish in the first set. The Eagles kept the score close early on, but a 9-3 run by the Panthers helped them take control of the set.
The teams traded points to start the second set but Post took a 7-4 lead after kills by junior
Nicole Brown (Queens, N.Y.) and Ripson. The Eagles continued to hold a three-point advantage, but Adelphi reeled off a 9-2 run to jump ahead 19-14 and Post was unable to come back.
The final set started just like the second as the Eagles grabbed an early 5-2 advantage after an ace by junior
Kerrin Kallmann (Lake Grove, N.Y.). The Panthers scored five of the next six points to take their first lead of the set. Post was able to tie the score once more after a kill by senior
Hailey Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.) but Adelphi pulled away and grabbed the match.
