ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Post University women's basketball team was defeated by Roberts Wesleyan 83-55 on Saturday afternoon at the ECC-CACC Challenge in Rochester, N.Y. Junior
Jovan Kingwood (Norwalk, Conn.) led the Eagles with 12 points and eight rebounds.
Roberts Wesleyan scored the first 13 points of the game. Junior
Tyra Jones (Rochester, N.Y.) ended the run on a layup off a dish from junior
Nicole Sheloski (Hudson Falls, N.Y.) midway through the first quarter. Jones finished with 11 points and five rebounds.
Kingwood and Jones combined for seven points during a 8-2 Eagles' run in the third quarter. Junior
Jessica Ayala (Middletown, N.Y.) hit a jumper with 3:13 left in the third to cut the deficit to 52-33, the smallest since early in the second quarter. Post was unable to pull any closer the remainder of the afternoon.
Sophomore
Lexus Childs-Harris (New London, Conn.) added nine points and four boards off the bench to lead the Eagles' reserves, which scored 30 points on the day. Post grabbed 14 offensive rebounds, two more than Roberts Wesleyan, but the Redhawks won the battle on the boards 51-44.
Post returns to action on Wednesday night in its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opener at Bloomfield. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
