Rochester, N.Y. - Junior Jovan Kingwood (Norwalk, Conn.) scored 19 points, and the Eagles took a three point halftime lead, but it wasn't enough as it they dropped a 75-70 game to Daemen in their first game of the season.

Kingwood was on fire early, shooting 5-for-8 from the field in the first half for 12 points. Junior Tyra Jones (Rochester, N.Y.) also had a scorching start, going 4-for-6 from the field in the first half, scoring 10 of her 18 points.

The Eagles led 24-14 after the first quarter, thanks to their 45.7% shooting. They were able to maintain the lead into the half with the score, 38-35, but were up by as much as 11 in the second quarter before Daemen went on an 8-0 run to close the half. 

Daemen opened up with an 8-4 run in the third quarter to take the lead early on before the Eagles hit back-to-back three-pointers, courtesy of sophomores Toni Deren (Greenlawn, N.Y.) and Georgia Black (Burlington, Vt.), and adding a layup by Jones to give the Eagles a 50-43 lead.

However, Daemen finished with a 19-4 run over the last six minutes of the quarter to take a 62-54 lead.

The fourth quarter saw Daemen increase its lead to 73-59 with 4:24 left. The Eagles attempted a comeback, falling just short as two three-pointers from Deren and another by Kingwood brought the Eagles to within five before the final whistle.
